MUSCAT: The total population in Oman has increased to 4,595,661 by the end of February 2022 compared to 4,527,446 by the end of December 2021, according to the statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Interestingly, there has been a steady rise in the number of expatriates living in the country. Between January 1, 2022, to February 28, 2022, 58,870 expatriates arrived in the Sultanate. In the monthly bulletin, NCSI said there are now 1.461 million expats working in Oman at the end of February compared to 1.409 million workers at the end of December 2021.
Bangladesh nationals continue to remain the largest expat community in Oman. There are now 546,182 Bangladeshis living in the country, while Indians are the second largest community with a slight increase of 490,114 people living in Oman. Pakistan nationals comes third with 206,083 people living in Oman. According to NCSI, 46,240 Filipinos live in Oman, 31,817 are from Egypt, 20,306 from Sri Lanka, 18,367 from Nepal, 11,854 from Tanzania and 8,020 from Sudan.
