10 new amendments made to Oman’s Consumer Protection Law

These amendments shall come into force from the day following the its publication in the Official Gazette.

MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Protection Authority, issued Decision No. 1/222 amending some provisions of the Executive Regulations of the Consumer Protection Law.

The first article of the decision stipulated that the attached amendments shall be made to the executive regulations of the Consumer Protection Law.

The second article stipulated cancelling all that contradicts the attached amendments or contradicts their provisions.

As for the third article, it stipulates the publication of this decision in the Official Gazette, and it shall come into force from the day following the date of its publication.

This decision was based on the Royal Decree No. 26/2011 establishing the Consumer Protection Authority, the Consumer Protection Authority system issued by Royal Decree No. 53/2011, the Consumer Protection Law issued by Royal Decree No. 66/2014, and the Executive Regulations of the Consumer Protection Law issued By Resolution No. 77/2017, to the approval of the Council of Ministers, and to the approval of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Protection Authority.
