MUSCAT: The Omani Meteorological Department said that northwesterly winds are currently active in the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta as well as in the deserts of Al Dhahirah and Al Dakhiliyah.
The department has indicated that some monitoring stations of the Civil Aviation Authority have recorded the following wind speeds in some areas — 33 knots in Shaleem; 31 knots in Kirun Hariti; 27 knots in Qarn al-Alam; 25 knots with active gifts of up to 47 knots in Zamaim; 23 knots in Cheetahs.
The meteorological forecast had indicated that moderate to active winds were blowing over most of the governorates from west to northwest. Medium to rough sea waves (3 to 2 meters) are expected on the coasts of the Sea of Oman and the coasts of Musandam. Calm to average waves of 1.5 meters is expected on coasts along the Arabian Sea.
