MUSCAT: Based on the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, the Omani authorities cooperated and coordinated with relevant authorities of Iran and the United Kingdom for the release of two British citizens, Oman TV reported.
On Wednesday, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a British woman who had been detained by Iran since 2016, was released along with Anoosheh Ashoori, another British national.
In a statement issued, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oman said: “In accordance with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s directives in continuing endeavors with all countries, and His Majesty’s blessing to respond to the request from the Government of the United Kingdom.”

“The relevant authorities of the Sultanate of Oman cooperated and coordinated with relevant authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United Kingdom for the release of two British citizens ( Nazanin Zanghari Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori) who were held in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Both people arrived in Muscat today on board a flight by the Royal Air Force of Oman, in preparation for their safe return to the United Kingdom,” the statement added.
