MUSCAT: The Supreme Court has overturned a ruling in favour of National Finance Company (NFC) after the Appeal Court ordered a judgement to pay OMR 840,000 to its former CEO.

In a judgement issued on Tuesday, the Supreme Court directed the Appeal Court to form a new panel and hear the case again.

In May 2021, the Appeal Court had ordered NFC to pay OMR 840,000 to its ex-CEO Shahin Mohammad Al Balushi after he filed a labour case claiming compensation.

“The Supreme Court accepted the petition in form and in substance revoked the impunged judgement. The Supreme Court referred the case to the Appeal Court, Muscat to hear and consider it again with a different panel. Once the detailed judgement is received from the Supreme Court, National Finance shall proceed with further course of action to litigate the case before the Appeal Court,” a statement issued by NFC said.
