MUSCAT: Maidan Muttrah project has been declared the winner of Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design on Tuesday.
The project done by Ahmed bin Muhammad Al Jahdami, Omaima bint Mahmoud Al Hinai, and Abdullah bin Saleh Al Bahri won the first place. The project enhances the value of Muttrah with its unique landmarks, where an iconic bridge in the middle of the square is designed in the form of a bird over the sea, which was inspired by the sword of Imam Al Salt bin Malik Al Kharusi.
The bridge frames the famous landmarks of Muttrah in one picture, and the bridge surrounds a mixed-use plaza that includes a dancing fountain, retail stores and cafes, with lights that blend with the waves of the sea.
