MUSCAT: India’s Alhind Group has signed a pact to purchase 25% stake in African-based airline Sun Air, the company informed on Monday.
Located in Khartoum, Sun Air is the first privately held airline company in Sudan to reach international destinations into African and Gulf Countries and expanding into further destinations in Europe and China.
Speaking to The Arabian Stories, Muhammed Haris, Director of alhind Group said the aim of the company is to further strengthen in both aviation and travel sectors. “We are indeed happy to purchase the stake in Sun Air which will help us in expanding our wings to African destinations,” Haris said.

Sun Air Aviation Chairman Captain Saif Omer welcomed the deal. “It’s good to have an illustrious travel company such as Alhind onboard with us. As the aviation industry is returning back to normalcy from the pandemic crisis, we have some exciting plans for Sun Air and together with Alhind we can make our aspirations come true,” Omer added.
Alhind Group which owns popular travel company Alhind Tours and Travels is also expanding its travel business across the globe. Alhind with over 150 branches and more than 2,000 employees across the globe recently opened its fifth branch in Oman in Sohar. In Asia, alhind has opened its office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The company is also opening its offices in Africa including Somali Land, Ethiopia, Hargeisa and Gambia this year.
