MUSCAT: Oman’s Fatima Al Nabhani won the first Gulf Padel Championship.
“This came as a culmination of the efforts and challenges during the stage of establishing and preparing the team, which is the first experience, but thanks to God and the solidarity of the players, we achieved the championship,” said Al-Nabhani.
Al-Nabhani added, “Our Badil women’s national team played its first match against the Saudi team and won 2-0, and in the second match, the team defeated the Bahraini team 2-0 and qualified for the semi-final match, in which it beat the Kuwaiti team 2-0, in addition to the (Kuwait) teams – UAE-Bahrain), and in the final match, our team won the UAE team, and the first match was won by two players Sarah Al Balushi and Azza Al Hinaiah with a score of 2-1, while Fatima Al Nabhani and Maryam Al Balushi won in the second match and ended with a score of 2 / zero for our national team in a group 6 / zero and 6/2.”

Regarding the next stage, Al-Nabhani said, “We will try in the coming period to expand the activity and search for other players to join the team, and we are still at the beginning and we are looking forward to high ambitions, especially since the game does not have a federation or committee, and there are upcoming tournaments next month and we look forward to participating and strengthening our position in the sport exchange.”
Padel sport is one of the racket sports, and it differs from the well-known sport of tennis and racquetball spread all over the world, and the padel is usually played in pairs in a closed court that is about 25% smaller than the size of the tennis court, and the points are scored similarly to tennis The balls used are similar, but with a little less pressure. The main differences from tennis are that the court has walls, and the balls can be played on them in a similar way to squash.
