MUSCAT: Sha’ban, which precedes the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic (Hijri) calendar, will begin on Friday, March 4 after the crescent moon was sighted on Thursday, Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs announced.
Muslims around the world start preparing for the dawn-to-dusk Ramadan fasting in the month of Sha’aban. Meanwhile, the Astronomical Affairs Department of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs indicated that the first day of the holy month of Ramadan is likely to be on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
