MUSCAT : Indian School Al Wadi Al Kabir on 26th of February 2022 organized the Award Ceremony for meritorious students after a gap of 2 years. Late Shri Mathradas Khimji Memorial Awards and Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony for the academic years 2019-20 and 2020-21 was attended by dignitaries from different walks of life, students, parents and staff on a virtual platform making the occasion a memorable one.

Mr. Kirti Jaysinh Jesrani, Co-Treasurer and Co-Convenor of the School Management Committee of ISWK was the Chief Guest for the evening’s programme. In his speech, he congratulated ISWK for encouraging the students to participate in academics and extra-curricular activities with the same fervour. He also reiterated that, “Success is a collaborative effort where each one has a role to play and there are no shortcuts to hard work”. The other distinguished guests included Shri Kiran Asher, Co-Founder and Group Managing Director of Al Ansari Group of Companies, esteemed members of the Khimji family, Mr. Alkesh Joshi, honorary President of the School Management Committee, other venerable members of the SMC, members of HMA and business community, members of the Education Cell, other dignitaries and special invitees.

The Award Ceremony commenced with a rendition of the prayer song, “Woh Shakti Humey Do Dayanidhey” to invoke the Almighty’s blessings. Meritorious students of grades VI- XII were felicitated with the coveted Late Shri Mathradas Khimji Memorial Awards for the academic years 2019-20 and 2020-21. Thereafter, section-wise toppers and subject toppers of grades VI-XII were presented with Academic Excellence Awards for excelling in academics.

An online Inter-House Dance Competition was organized along with the Award Ceremony. The invitees were treated to an array of unique, mind-blowing and pulsating fusion dances by the students of the four houses, namely Ashoka, Akbar, Tagore and Vivekananda. While the judges adjudicated elegant dancers of the Ashoka House as the ‘Winners’ in the competition, the online poll conducted at the end of the competition ensured that the ‘Popular Audience Award’ went to the Akbar House dancers.

The Principal of the school, Mr. D N Rao, congratulated the winners for their stupendous performance and encouraged them to participate in such competitions to enrich their skills and talents.

The colourful event, after a lapse of two years, signaled the beginning of transformation and renewed hope. The occasion left behind a lasting imprint on the minds of all those who attended the programme. The proud awardees and their parents were thankful to the School Management Committee for recognizing and awarding the exemplary academic achievements of the students in spite of the challenges posed by the pandemic.
