MUSCAT : Eng. Khaled Khamis Al Shamakhi, Director of the Agricultural Development Department at the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Governorate of A’Dhahirah pointed out that the Governorate produced more than 659 tons of wheat grain, cultivated on an area of 577 acres during the last agricultural season in 2021.
Eng. Al Shamakhi explained that the programs of the Ministry contributed to increasing the productivity of the cultivated area as a result of using agricultural mechanization and modern irrigation systems, as well as providing good quality types of seeds that are resistant to agricultural pests and diseases. Eng. Al Shamakhi further added that the Directorate General provides wheat harvesting machines, as a number of harvesting and plowing machines have been distributed for the farmers to fast harvesting of the cultivated wheat crops on large areas.
