MUSCAT: The celebrations of Omani Craftman’s Day commenced on Monday in the Wilayat of Ibra in the North Governorate of Al Sharqiyah. A craft exhibition and three-days of accompanying events in the corridors of the Eastern University has been organised by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority represented by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate
These events aim to enhance efforts, introduce Omani crafts, shed light on craftsmen and their products, and promote craft industries in the governorate, in addition to spreading awareness among members of Omani society of the importance of craft industries and their role in preserving history and cultural heritage in the Sultanate of Oman.
It also includes a number of arenas, most notably the palm industries arena, the silverware section, the pottery industries, in addition to a section for distilling aromatic plants, perfumes and cosmetics, as well as for the wool and cotton weaving industry.

The activities of the Omani Crafts Day also include a number of accompanying events that are held with the wide participation of members of the Omani local community, most notably the presentation of Omani singing arts, the holding of a photo exhibition and the best picture competition, in addition to holding a workshop for craft industries and a competition for the best short video clip.
The celebration of Omani Craftsman’s Day highlights of the importance of consolidating initiatives that support the contributions of the national crafts sector in enhancing sources of income, considering that craft industries are among the pillars that countries seek to attract, in addition to the importance of crafts in the growth of social, economic and cultural projects and their influential role in providing society with useful products.
