MUSCAT: The State’s Financial and Administrative and Administrative Audit Institution (SFAAI) said it has dealt with 207 corruption cases and managed to recover OMR 580 million during the ninth five-year plan.

In its annual report, SFAAI issued a summary of the results of its work, including the fulfilment of the requirements of the Tenth Five-Year Plan to enhance transparency and disclosure.

SFAAI said the corruption cases were dealt in coordination with Public Prosecution “some of which were judicial rulings and others are still under procedures.”

The report stated that the total number of complaints and reports during the period from 2011 to 2020 amounted to 4,544 complaints and reports, of which 94% were dealt with and completed, noting that the number of complaints and communications in 2020 increased 51% compared to 2019.

The complaints and reports of administrative and financial abuses amounted to 2767, while 1,063 delays were registered in completing transactions, while 232 grievances of employees, were recorded.

The number of entities subject to the oversight of SFAAI reached 519, including 292 main bodies and 227 subsidiary bodies, while the number of reports issued by the agency’s examination missions reached 2,449 oversight reports during the period from 2011 to 2020.

The authority has undertaken the tasks of setting the Anti-Corruption Commission to detect
financial and administrative violations. The authority activated its oversight role in most government units throughout the year, opening a number of branches of the agency in most governorates, and implemented the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
