Oman Investment Authority to establish bio-food technology company

The company will be set up in cooperation with American based Myco Technology.

MUSCAT: The Oman Investment Authority launched a new project to produce an alternative protein from dates in cooperation with American company Myco Technology.

In a statement issued, Oman News Agency (ONA) said the first phase of the project is the preparation of economic feasibility studies.

On the sidelines of the “Future of Food” event, OIA, in cooperation with Myco announced the establishment of a bio-food technology company with the aim of studying the feasibility of building a factory in the Sultanate of Oman.

Through this partnership, OIA seeks to enhance food security, contribute to achieving self-sufficiency, and attract global expertise to benefit from them in local projects in order to achieve economic diversification and provide direct and indirect job opportunities and business opportunities for small and medium enterprises.
