MUSCAT: A recruitment agency in North Al Batinah Governorate has been temporarily closed for violating the Consumer Protection Law.
In a statement issued, the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) said the agency failed to fulfil the terms agreed with the consumer in the contracts. “A consumer recruited some workers through this manpower agency but after joining the employees refused to work and the agency also delayed in transferring the sponsorship too.
In addition to that, the agency did not follow certain guidelines in the contracts on time. The directorate took all legal measures and the file was transferred to the competent authorities supported by statistics clarifying the merits of all cases. The cases presented are based on Article (37), which states that “the public prosecutor may, upon a prior request from the president or his authorized representative, decide temporarily to close the facility or stop the activity until the case is resolved.”
