MUSCAT: More than 41,000 people in Oman participated in preparing the 2040 Vision of whom 40% are youth, His Excellency Dr. Khamis bin Saif Al Jabri, Head of the Follow-up Unit for the Implementation of 2040 Vision said. “They (youth) are the focus and future of this vision,” he said.

His Excellency clarified that the functions of the Follow-up Unit for the implementation of the Oman 2040 Vision are to follow up the implementation of the vision’s objectives and support and assist government agencies to ensure their implementation and stimulate the participatory environment in order to solve the challenges it faces.

His Excellency indicated that the unit seeks, in coordination with other agencies, to create an integrated planning work system through clear planning of the vision, strategic planning, the tenth five-year plan, the annual plans of government agencies, and the initiatives and projects implemented on the ground.

His Excellency said there is a discrepancy between the performance of institutions to implement the goals of the vision for several reasons, including the quality of initiatives and projects, and in the event of a slowdown in some entities; the unit will intervene to solve the challenges.

“Continuous efforts between the Unit, the Ministry of Economy and the National Center for Statistics and Information are being held to review the visual indicators and put them in a template that helps to measure them more accurately,” he noted.

The Unit, according to Al Jabri, is currently working on defining the priorities and targets of the vision every five years to ensure that they keep pace with developments and changes.

“There is an intense and continuous media effort with the Ministry of Information to communicate and highlight the achievements achieved by the vision and the challenges of its implementation,” he informed.

“The unit always strives to ensure that the governmental system operates at a consistent speed with each other and relies on the individual performance system Ejada,” he noted.

His Excellency also revealed an initiative which is under development that will create a platform for young people “in which continuous workshops will be held to adopt different ideas, especially with regard to the technical, economic and industrial fields that are in line with the requirements of the current stage.”
