MOH announces conditions in using paracetamol tablets in Oman

The Ministry of Health in Oman has issued a circular to pharmaceutical departments, medical warehouses and hospitals.

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health issued a circular regarding the high consumption of the paracetamol tablets by health units.

The health units in Oman recorded paracetamol consumption to be at the rate of 45,000 strips in 2019, 41,000 in 2020 and 45,000 in 2021.

The ministry has stated in the circular to not to dispense more than one strip to a patient as it is used only for necessity, stressing that the quantities disbursed to all health units will be reduced.

This circular was sent to the directors of the pharmaceutical care departments and medical warehouses at Khoula Hospital and the Royal Hospital, the directors of the pharmaceutical care departments in the governorates, and the heads of the pharmaceutical care departments and medical warehouses in the reference hospitals.
