MUSCAT: Colombian cyclist Fernando Gaviria achieved first place and Mark Cavendish came in second as the first day of the iconic Tour of Oman kicked-off to a spectacular start on Thursday
The race started in front of Al Rustaq Castle in the Governorate of South Al Batinah and concluded in front of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center in the Governorate of Muscat.
18 international teams represented by 126 participants from Europe, Asia, America and Australia are taking part in the six-day race.

“The Colombian cyclist Fernando Gaviria of the UAE team achieved first place at the conclusion of the first stage of the Tour of Oman. The British cyclist Mark Cavendish of the Belgian Quick Step team came in second place, and the Australian Kaden Groves of the Bike Exchange team came in third,” Oman News Agency said.
