MUSCAT: The family of a young expatriate who died in a car accident in Oman received the insurance amount through NORKA Routes.
Kiran who hails from Kottarakara in Kollam district in Kerala died in a car accident in September 2021 in Nizwa. K Harikrishnan Namboothiri, CEO of NORKA Roots handed over the cheque of ₹4 lakhs to Kiran’s father Shivadhasan.
From 2021-2022, NORKA Roots distributed ₹36.20 lakha to 18 people as insurance money through its Pravasi ID card initiative.

The insurance cover is ₹4 lakh for accidental death and up to ₹2 lakh for disability. “Earlier the accidental coverage was ₹2 lakhs and this has been now increased to ₹4 lakh from April 2021,” NORKA said in a statement.
“Those expatriates from the age of 18 to 70 can become member through the ID Card scheme. ₹315 is the membership fee,” NORKA said.
