MUSCAT: The net number of Omanis working in the insured private sector has increased by about 12,000 people between 2020 and 2021.
According to the monthly bulletin of the National Center for Statistics and Information, the net number of Omanis working in the private sector in 2021 increased by 4.7% compared to 2020, from 254,754 Omanis to 266,799 Omanis.
The construction sector is the highest in employing Omanis, with approximately 53,000 Omani men and women, despite the decrease in the percentage of workers in the sector during the comparison period by 3.2%. The wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles came in second place with more than 40,000 Omanis, and the number of Omanis working in this sector increased by 8% at an annual rate.
