More than 5,000 international applications submitted for trademarks protection in Oman

Registration of international applications under the Madrid Protocol Agreement aims to provide protection for the product.

MUSCAT: More than 5,000 international applications have been submitted for trademarks under the Madrid Protocol agreement to the National Intellectual Property Office during 2020 and 2021.

In a statement issued, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said 5,730 applications have been received.

Mansoura bint Mahmoud Al-Khasibiya, an intellectual property researcher at the Ministry’s National Intellectual Property Office, explained that the registration of international applications under the Madrid Protocol Agreement aims to provide protection for the product, enhance innovative aspects and gain consumer confidence.
