MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Saidi, Minister of Health, during his meeting with members of the Board of Directors of the Omani Association for Organ Transplantation, discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Ministry and the Association in order to develop the national program for organ transplantation within the framework of the supreme blessing of establishing the National Centre for Organ Transplantation.

The meeting also touched on establishing the first national conference for organ transplantation, which the association plans to hold early next year. The importance of launching an organ donation program is crucial, especially to start procedures for organs that can be donated only after death such as the heart, lung and pancreas. An increasing number of patients await for these organ transplants procedures.

The Omani Association for Organ Transplantation was declared on June 23, 2021, and the association plays a tangible role in educating the community about the importance of organ donation and contributing to the rehabilitation of medical personnel through holding seminars and practical conferences.
