New Year’s Eve: Heavy rainfall in many parts of Oman

Weather experts forecast showers as Oman prepares to usher in 2022.

MUSCAT: Residents in Muscat and many parts of the country woke up to heavy spells of rainfall and wind on Friday morning.

Oman is experiencing overcast skies and cooler temperatures.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) had issued an alert that indicated Oman is affecting by a trough of low pressure area and expecting to last until the mid of the next week.

“The weather is expected to be cloudy over the governorates of Musandam, North Al-Batinah with chances of rain (50-100 mm ) occasionally thunderstorms associated with fresh winds, flash floods and wadis. Chances of cloud advection over governorates of South Al-Batinah, Muscat, Al-Buraimi, Al-Dahirah, Al-Dakhliya, South Al-Sharaqiya and North Al-Shariqiya with (10-30 mm) rainfall,” the statement from Oman Met said.
