MUSCAT: Will we go back into another lockdown? This was the frequent question asked by the subscribers of The Arabian Stories.
It’s been months since the government lifted major measures in Oman, but with cases rising daily and concerns over Omicron variant, there are fears about further measures, however, all such doubts and predictions have been put to rest by the Supreme Committee. “We do not take decisions based on predictions,” said His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health and Supreme Committee member.
Oman on Tuesday registered 79 new cases, the highest single-day tally in many months. “The spike in cases is a concern, and we need to stay cautious and follow all precautionary measures to ensure that our health system is not affected,” Al Saidi said.

“Many expected us to close and tighten the measures,” Al Said pointed out. “But the decisions of the Supreme Committee look at all the data and are also based on the data of the local, regional and international epidemiological situation and not on predictions,“ the Minister clarified.
The Minister informed that all the decisions of the Supreme Committee shall be enforced until January 31, 2022, “if the situation does not change for the worse. Those decisions may be changed in light of the epidemiological situation,” he added.
