MUSCAT : Suhail Khan proved unbeatable as he won the Men’s Singles title defeating Shanawas K in straight sets scoring  6-2, 6-3 in the Annual Tennis Tournament conducted by Indian Social Club Oman

After a tough opening service game, Suhail’s consistent, deep returning generated a 2-0 lead in the first set.  Suhail was impeccable throughout the set; he struggled at times with his injured forehand and Shanawas’s defense forced him ample errors. However, he played the match on his terms, dictating from inside the baseline, and he served well in most tight moments. After maintaining the opening break throughout the set, Suhail conceded the first set in his favor scoring 6-2.

Suhail gained an early break and a 2-0 lead in the second set before losing two games in a row, but he remained calm throughout. The decisive game of the match followed at 3-3, the intensity skyrocketing as Suhail controlled the exchanges and Shanawas counterpunched efficiently. In the end, it was Suhail who stood firmly inside the baseline, munching a series of crosscourt backhands to finish the second set in his favor scoring 6-3.

In other matches of Mens Singles, Ganesh beat Arun Ganesh scoring 8-4; Haresh J beat Rathish 8-2;  Junaith K beat Hemachandran 8-1 while Shanawas beat Ganesh scoring 6-0; 6-1 in the semifinals.
