MUSCAT:  Indian  Social  Club,  Oman –  Deccani  Wing organised its  fourth edition of  Cricket Tournament,  Deccan  Premier  League  (DPL)  played on  5th  and  12th  November  at  Al  Hail  Cricket Ground,  Mabela. Ten  teams  participated over 2 days for  qualifying league stage and knockout Semi Finals  were  played  between Deccan  XI vs  Deccan  Stars and  Deccan  Challengers  Vs  Deccan  Royals. Deccan XI and Deccan Royals reached to the final.

Final match was keenly fought where Deccan XI after winning the toss scored 88 runs for 3 wickets in 10 overs.  Junaid 28, Malik Rashid 23, Javed 18 and Irfan 2/16 were the stand out performers.  In  reply,   Deccan  Royals  made  76  runs  for  6 wickets  in  10  overs. Munavar  19,  Farhaan  14,  Irfan  14,  Ravi  3/26,  and  Malik  Rashid  2/9 contributed significantly. Man of the Match award went to Malik Rashid.   Following were the tournament award winners: Man of the Series – Junaid, Best Batsman – Junaid and Best Bowler – Ravi.  

Deccani Wing office bearers Dr. Wasifuddin Convenor, Mr. Ismail Baig Co-Convener, Mr. Mansoor  Sabri Treasurer  and  Mr.  Zaheer Al Deen, Head of Organizing Committee welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Venkatapathy Raju, famous Indian Cricketer and Guest of Honor Mr. Syed Anwar Ahsan, Chief Selector Oman Cricket. 

Mr. Sathish Nambiar, Chairman ISC Oman, Mr. Babu  Rajendran, General  Secretary and Mr. Suhail  Khan Join Secretary, Mr Avishkar Salve Fast Bowling Consultant to Oman Cricket and Mr. Asif Sultan Ex-Cricketer were also present in the event. 

Chief guest Mr Venkatpathy Raju handed over the Champions trophy to winning captain Mr. Ismail. Guest of honour Mr Anwar Ahsan gave the Runners up trophy to Mr Munavar. Mr. Sathish  Nambiar and  Mr. Babu  Rajendran distributed individual medals and other awards.

The organising committee headed by Mr. Zaheer Al Deen and members Mr.  Naimath and Mr. Mirza Zulkhader received a lot of accolade for holding a hugely successful event with full Covid protocols in place.
