Oman’s Ministry of Transport suspends movement of trucks on Sohar-Yanqul road

The decision comes into effect from November 1 onwards.

MUSCAT: Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has suspended the movement of trucks with a load of more than 7 tonnes on the Sohar-Yanqul road as part of streamlining traffic and to reduce traffic accidents.

The decision comes into effect from November 1 onwards.

In a statement issued, the Ministry asked truck drivers to use the alternative dual roads to travel between the Governorate of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah.

“Within the framework of organising and managing the movement of trucks on the main roads of the Sultanate and in an effort to streamline traffic and reduce traffic accidents, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, issued a decision to suspend the movement of trucks with a load of more than 7 tonnes on the Sohar-Yanqul road from November 1. Truck drivers can use the alternative dual roads to travel between the Governorate of North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah. The Ministry calls upon everyone to abide by the decision in the interest of public interest,” the statement added.
