MUSCAT: His Excellency Salem Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, issued a ministerial decision to form a government committee for licensing integrated tourism complexes and its work system.
The committee will study the applications for granting approvals to start integrated tourism complexes based on the requests it receive. The committee can also propose amending licensing rules and controls.
Earlier in an interview the Minister said the government is racing to save its tourism to benefit an industry badly damaged by the coronavirus pandemic. “The pandemic effects were profound on the tourism industry and all the sectors of the tourism sector were deeply affected. But we are at the beginning of a recovery phase where we are also trying to restore the traditional markets,” Al Mahrouqi added.
