MUSCAT: Saudi Arabia’s football coach Herve Renard has praised Oman’s fighting spirit as the two counties meet on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the second game of the final 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier round.
Speaking to reporters after arriving in Oman, Renard said he does not underestimate the Red Warriors. “I am closely watching the Reds,” he said. “They have a good coach and since his arrival the team has become more disciplined and their fighting spirit has improved. I was impressed by their fighting spirit in front of Japan. We do not underestimate them,” Renard added.
Oman stunned Asian football powerhouse Japan in the opening game of the final World Cup qualifying round on Thursday, winning 1-0. Red Warriors win came with Issam Al Sabhi’s late strike, just two minutes from time. He swept home Salah Al Yahyaei’s cross from the right to stun giants to take home all three points in the Group B meeting.
