MUSCAT: Oman’s national football team returned home on Friday morning after they stunned Japan in the opening game of the final World Cup qualifying round on Thursday, winning 1-0.
Red Warriors win came with Issam Al Sabhi’s late strike, just two minutes from time. He swept home Salah Al Yahyaei’s cross from the right to stun Asia’s football powerhouse to take home all three points in the Group B meeting.
Oman Football Association (OFA) chairman Sheikh Salim Al Wahaibi welcomed the team at the Muscat International Airport along with management officials.
