MUSCAT: After temporary suspension, Oman will start issuing all types of visas from September 1, a senior Royal Oman Official said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Supreme Committee press conference, Major General Abdullah Al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations, also said visas issued since the start of 2021 will be extended until the end of December without any fees.  “Anyone who is outside the Sultanate can enter the ROP website and will find that these visas have been extended,” Al Harthy said.

Meanwhile, expat residents who are stranded abroad for more than six months can return after updating their status at the request of their employer. “Expatriate workers who have valid visas, but are staying outside the Sultanate for more than 6 months can update their visa status at the request of the employer (sponsor). There are facilities in place to address this issue” Al Harthy added.
