MUSCAT : To support Oman’s COVID-19 vaccination drive, Al Ahlia Insurance, a leading general insurance provider, has donated 100 vaccines to low income and undocumented expatriates in the Sultanate. The drive was in keeping with Al Ahlia’s commitment to support the government with all available means through the ongoing pandemic. 

The initiative, in association with a notable community group, What’s Happening, Oman? (WhO), was organized at the Muscat Private Hospital where 100 first dozes of the AstraZeneca vaccine were administered.

Mr. Praveen Kumar, CEO of Al Ahlia was grateful for the opportunity extended by the WhO team. “Al Ahlia’s purpose is to get our customers back on their feet in no time. Hence, it is our mission to help our communities at the time of need. The global pandemic has continued for more than a year, affecting our lifestyles and our sentiment. It became apparent to us that being healthy and safe is a priority, and we want to do our part and provide essential items to those in need. We are committed to the Sultanate of Oman and will continue to support wherever we can”.

The community group WhO led the initiative and has been working with private organisations to increase the accessibility of vaccines in the Sultanate. Al Ahlia is one of the few insurance companies to provide their commitment to this initiative. Showing her gratitude is Joanne James, founder of WhO, who expressed “I want to give a massive shoutout to our good friends Al Ahlia Insurance, for their incredible gift to vaccinate 100 people. I am blown away by the kindness of people, if we keep working together, we can get so much done.”

Mr. Prasanth R. Nair, Clinic Manager, Muscat Private Clinic, who led the drive to administer the vaccines said “It’s a trying time and the authorities are doing the best they can, however, it is great to see people across various industries come together offering their support. Al Ahlia Insurance have led the way in reaching out, and whilst this appears to be a donation, it is important to highlight the nobility that will save lives.”

Al Ahlia and WhO are long term partners in supporting the less privileged residents of Oman. Earlier in the year during Ramadan, Al Ahlia worked with WhO to donate bulk grocery of over 25 cartons to be distributed to 25 families who were immobile due to the pandemic and needed additional support.
