MUSCAT: With International Cricket Council (ICC) looking at Muscat as one of the additional venues to host the T20 World Cup, if the tournament is moved out of India due to the pandemic, cricket lovers in the Sultanate are eagerly waiting for the big news.
“The anxiety is killing all of us but we have to wait till June 28 to know,” said a beaming Pankaj Khimji, Chairman of Oman Cricket (OC), speaking to The Arabian Stories.
A final decision on whether the event can be held in India or will have to be shifted to the UAE is expected later this month with the ICC agreeing to give the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) time till June 28 to decide on the issue.
“We have made it clear about our readiness to host the global event, if given an opportunity. We are keeping our fingers crossed,” Pankaj added.
