MUSCAT: With the Supreme Committee imposing a complete closure of commercial activities throughout the day and the 7pm to 4am movement ban from May 8 to 15, the Government Communication Centre (GC) has clarified that restaurants and cafes are allowed to deliver orders round the clock.
In a statement issued, GC however said restaurants and cafes can only do delivery. Restaurants and cafes can deliver food 24 hours from May 8 to 15,” the statement said. Street vendors are also allowed to operate by obtaining an approval from relevant authorities, GC added.
According to GC, restaurants and cafes can deliver food through a licensed food delivery company. Restaurants and cafes can also get the necessary approval from the Municipality, provided the person must be authorized to deliver the food. “Delivery is done through licenced food delivery companies, and in the event that food delivery companies are not available at the facility site, a request is submitted to the competent municipality, provided that the person who is authorized to deliver is an employee or owner of the facility,” the statement said.

“The representative of food delivery company is obligated to deliver orders within the authorized jurisdiction only,” GC pointed out.
Food delivery companies should also place a name label of the company on the vehicle.
Due to rise in coronavirus cases, the Supreme Committee has announced the closure of all commercial activities throughout the day, while movement ban has been extended from 7pm to 4am from May 8 to 15.
