MUSCAT: India has advised its citizens not to travel Kathmandu from India only for the purpose for transiting to others countries.
The statement from the Ministry of External Affairs comes at a time when a number of countries including Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, UK and Australia have suspended travel from India. To avoid the restrictions passengers choose flights from a “green country” to enter. Due to this, some travellers from India are flying to Kathmandu, to take connecting flights to other countries.
According to the Ministry over 14,000 Indian passengers are now stranded in Nepal in transit to other countries particularly to GCC as Nepal has stopped conducting RT-PCR tests for transit passengers.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification banning all foreign nationals from using the Tribhuvan International Airport as a transit point for third countries.
“The arrival of foreigners intending to travel to third countries via Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Nepal and using TIA as transit airport from April 28, 2021, midnight till the next notice,” the statement said.
“Indian nationals are advised accordingly to avoid travel to Nepal for the purposes of onward journeys to third countries because of restrictions after Wednesday (April 28).… Embassy is in contact with Nepalese authorities to facilitate travel of bona fide Indian nationals already in Nepal,” the Indian embassy said in a statement.
