MUSCAT: Forging a bank card by any means is a punishable offence in Oman by imprisonment for a period of six months and a fine of OMR 1,000, Public Prosecution said on Monday.
“Forging a financial card, by any means whatsoever, fabricating or manufacturing devices or materials that facilitate the same, or seizing data from financial cards or using, presenting, facilitating to others to acquire such data, or using the internet or means of information technology to unduly access financial card’s data or figures or accept a forged financial card, with knowledge thereof, is an offense punishable by imprisonment for a period up to 6 months and a fine of OMR 1,000 or by either one of the two sentences,” Public Prosecution said.
