Indian School Al Ghubra organises virtual annual awards ceremony

MUSCAT: Indian School Al Ghubra organized a virtual Annual Awards Ceremony for the academic year 2019-20 on 4 March 2021. It was conducted to recognise the achievements of students in both curricular and co-curricular activities and also to honour the staff who have rendered long service to the institution. Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, Founder of ISG, presided over as the Chief Guest. The event began with Mrs. Papri Ghosh, the Principal according a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, Mr. Ahmad Rayees, President-SMC, Mr. Sunil Kattakath-Convener, members of SMC, teachers, parents, staff and students.

The Principal summarized the pandemic era by quoting a few lines from the famous novel‘A Tale of Two Cities’ by Charles Dickens. The Annual Report provided a glimpse of the myriad achievements of the students in Inter school events and in house celebrations and events.

The Chief Guest, Dr. P. Mohamed Ali congratulated the staff and students and appreciated the efforts put in by all the members. He profusely thanked Mrs. Helen Lobo, Coordinator, Pre Primary Section and Mr. Shamsu M.K, Assistant Admin Manager for 30 years of service to the institution. He also thanked the teachers who have completed 20, 15 and 10 years of service. Dr. Mohamed Ali highlighted the advantages of technology which makes the meeting possible but said that the human element was missing. Addressing the students, he emphasized on the attitude of gratitude and advised them to focus on their goals.

The school choir presented the song ‘May the Good Lord Bless and Keep you’. 


Mrs. Shamshad Hamza, Supervisor- Middle School, Mrs. Ann Thomas and Mrs. Rajasri Lakshman announced the awards for students who have excelled in GK, Art and Academics. Students were also awarded for Perfect Attendance and Victor Ludorum Certificates in Sports and Academics for five consecutive years. The other awards for students included the winners at the CBSE Nationals in Sports and Games (2019-20) as well as at the Western Region Asian Cricket under-16 (2019-20). The toppers in the CBSE examinations in Classes X and XII were honoured. The subject toppers in both Classes X and XII in the CBSE examination were also awarded.  

Mrs. Pyarija Cidar, Vice Principal ISGi, announced the toppers in Classes X and XII.

Mr. G. Sreekumar, Vice Principal ISG, announced the Awards for Long Service for staff members who have completed 30,25,20,15 and 10 years in school. A total of 29 staff members received the Long Service award. 

The event concluded with the Principal proposing the Vote of Thanks.
