MUSCAT: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a circular to all airlines operating from the country informing them about temporary ban imposed by the Supreme Committee (SC) on 10 countries, starting from February 25.

On Monday, SC suspended entry of people from 10 countries including Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Brazil, Sudan and Guinea for a period of two weeks.

However, the Committee has exempted diplomats, Omani citizens and medical
practitioners and their families.

The decision comes after a rise in coronavirus cases especially with the emergence of mutated strains in many countries. According to the statement, SC has also banned other nationals coming passing through any of those eight countries.
