MUSCAT: From providing meals at schools to helping people with disabilities helped Oman Flour Mills (OFM) win His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for Industrial Excellence in the category of social responsibility.
The social responsibility programs of Oman Flour Mills included “Campaign For You” which support the underprivileged families with food, providing health meals to needy school students as well as support programs for charities and the National Committee for the Disabled. OFM also has established environmental friendly gardens in various regions of the Sultanate. “OFM has so far contributed OMR 175,000 towards its social responsibility programs in 2020,” the company said in a statement.
”The company is also working to support the development of small and medium enterprises. For the purpose, it is training Omani youth for self-employment and helping them in setting up their own small projects such as cleaning and maintenance companies,” OFM said.

“It is preparing them for future by giving them grants and concessions to establish their own fast-food outlets and add value to them. It is also working to enhance entrepreneurial spirit of young Omanis, by developing among them sense of ownership and pride,” the company said.
Speaking about winning the prestigious award, Haitham bin Muhammad Al Fannah, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Flour Mills, said that the company gave huge importance and extra ordinary attention to social responsibility. “The honouring of Oman Flour Mills Company with His Majesty the Sultan’s Award for social responsibility is an appreciation of its efforts which it has made over the years,” he said.
“It is our resolve that we will continue our work even in most difficult times. We did not stop production even in the times of crises, exceptional climate changes and epidemiological conditions which swept the country. This is as part of our national and social responsibility. We give importance to continue supply of our products to meet the requirements of citizens and residents. We contribute in the efforts being made for achievement of self-sufficiency with our government partners, as part of the strategy of integrating the food security system in the country,” Al Fannah added.
