MUSCAT : Capacity in shopping centres, restaurants, cafes and gyms has been reduced as part of a raft of new restrictions designed to slow the spread of Covid-19.

Effective from Friday, February 12, commercial centres, restaurants, cafes including shisha joints, and gyms will operate to a maximum capacity of 50 per cent until further notice. The downsizing also include government and private sector service halls. “Visitors in these places must also be reduced to 50% capacity,” the statement from the Supreme Committee said.

The decision from the Supreme Committee comes after it observed spike in Covid-19 cases. “The committee also observed cases of non-compliance with precautionary measures at some establishments,” the statement added.
