MUSCAT: Ministry of Health has received several reports of people removing their COVID-19 tracking bracelets and handing it over to family members in order to move freely.

Speaking at the Supreme Committee press conference, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said escaping the mandatory 7-day quarantine will invite fine of OMR 1,000 against violators.

“We have received messages of some people removing their tracking bracelet after arriving at the country’s border crossings and putting them on elderly people or their worker who do not usually leave the home. What can we tell about such people? This is unethical and a grave concern,” Al Saidi said.

Al Saidi also said controlling airports is much easier compared to land borders. “Such incidents have been reported in land borders,” he added.
