MUSCAT : Oman will implement e-processing of government employees’ salaries from January 1, 2021, the Ministry of Finance said.
In a circular issued by Finance Minister Sultan Al Habsi the heads of ministries and government units have been urged to expedite the steps towards the finalisation of electronic transfer of salaries.
The Minister also cautioned the government apparatus that the current methods of receiving and processing salaries will be suspended on December 2020. “Processing of electronic transfer of salaries” requires all ministries and government units to speed up the finalization of procedures governing coordination with their respective banks of electronic transactions to complete the mechanism of electronic processing of salary transfer,” the circular from the Minister said.
According to the circular, the move comes as part of the Central Bank of Oman’s efforts to implement electronic transformation and to protect information and data against any risks.
