MUSCAT: Expat lawyers will not be allowed to attend or plead before any courts in Oman after December 31, 2020, Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs said on Tuesday.
In a statement issued, the Ministry said decision has been taken based on the directives of Council of Ministers which set the deadline for expat lawyers registered in various Omani courts including the Supreme Court “to not attend or plead before the courts.”
“The Ministry appreciates the efforts made by the non-Omani attorney professors and the contributions and experiences they have made in order to advance the legal profession in the Sultanate and raise the level of its operators, wishing them success and advancement in their career,” the statement from the Ministry said.
