MUSCAT: Misappropriation of public funds by government employees is a serious crime in Oman and can lead to five years imprisonment and fines, the Public Prosecution (PP) said.
“Dear citizens and residents, misappropriation of public money by a public servant or facilitating handing over the same to a third party is an offense punishable by imprisonment for five years and a fine equivalent to the misappropriated amount in addition to removal from office and denial of future postings indefinitely,” PP said in a statement.
