COVID-19: Are you travelling to Oman after October 1? Here’s what you need to know

MUSCAT: As Oman prepares to reopen its airports from October 1, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued guidelines that must be followed in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

Following are the guidelines issued by CAA for those arriving in Oman from October 1:

1. Non-Omanis are allowed to enter Oman only under a permit issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via their embassy or sponsor or national airlines (Oman Air and Salam Air).

2. All visitors are required to have health insurance that covers the costs of treatment for Covid-19 for a period of one month.

3. All arrivals shall have their temperature measured and those with Covid-19 symptoms shall be directed to the designated clinics for examination.

4. Transit travellers are to abide by the instructions mentioned in this guide.

5. All travellers are to comply with submitting any required documents , conducting medical examinations, or being quarantined whenever they are required to do so by the competent authorities.

6. Physical distancing must be maintained at security points, luggage collection, and customs inspections.

7. Arriving passengers shall be required to download and start the registration process on the Tarassud+ application before arrival.

8. All arriving passengers are required to do PCR tests and the result will be made available from 1 to 7 days. They will also be placing an electronic bracelet for a period of 8-14 and must enter 14 days of quarantine.

9. Foreigners coming to the Sultanate must show a confirmation of the prior reservation of housing and bear the accommodation expenses within the 14 day period (institutional quarantine)

10. The two national airlines (Oman Air and Salam Air ) are allowed to carry transfer passengers.

11. Aircraft crew, is exempted from the 14 days quarantine and subject to the precautionary measures issues by the Ministry of Health.

12. Foreign diplomats returning to Oman are excluded from the previous conditions except for the domestic quarantine requirement.
