Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a warning about the dangers of children being targeted while using the internet and social media platforms.
The statement from ROP comes after a man was arrested in Al Buraimi Governorate after he allegedly defamed a girl and blackmailed her via social media.
“Social media users must immediately report when they are exposed to online blackmailing and should not share photos via the internet,” ROP said in a statement.

ROP also urged parents to educate their children about the dangers and the use of modern technologies. “Families and parents should educate their children about the dangers of using online platforms and modern technologies,” the statement added.
