Active COVID-19 cases drop below 5,000 in Oman

MUSCAT: Oman’s new Covid-19 cases have dropped significantly as the total active cases stands below 5,000.

Of the total 85,928 cases registered in the country so far, 81,024 patients have recovered, while there are only 4,904 active cases.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Committee (SC) headed by His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidy confirmed that the coronavirus infection rate in the country has reduced. However, SC also cautioned that the hospital occupancy and intensive care unite patients rate are still high.

There are currently 416 patients in hospitals, while 154 Covid-19 cases are in ICU.

The committee has stressed the importance of adhering to the preventive measures including wearing masks, physical distancing and maintaining hand hygiene.
