No plans to open mosques, priority is to safeguard citizens and residents, says Minister

MUSCAT: His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health has reiterated that the government has no immediate plans to open places of worship including mosques in the wake of rising coronavirus cases in the country.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said the the priority is to safeguard the lives of citizens and residents from Covid-19. “Mosques and activities that require large gatherings cannot be opened during the current time due to high number of cases. Our main goal is to safeguard the lives of citizens and residents,” he said.

Oman closed all mosques and places of worship in March due to coronavirus.
