MUSCAT: Oman has no immediate plans to open its borders including airports in the wake of rising coronavirus cases, Minister of Transport has said.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Ahmed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport also said citizens will not be allowed to leave the country. “I can confirm the decision of the Supreme Committee not to open the borders whether it is for traveling by land or air and not to allow the exit of Omanis out of Oman as the circumstances not good to encourage the reopening of ports. The borders will continue to be closed and whoever enters, would be required to observe health quarantine,” Futaisi said on Thursday.

Oman has seen a rise in the coronavirus cases over the last one week, taking the total to 42,555 on Thursday.
