MUSCAT: The Supreme Committee (SC) has expressed its concern over the rise in the coronavirus cases in the country.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, SC said it has followed up “with utmost concern the epidemiological indicators of the COVID-19 which include the significant surge in infections particularly among the citizens, the rise in the number of deaths and cases in the ICU.”
Oman on Tuesday reported 1,110 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the total to 40,070. The death cases, meanwhile, has touched 176 on Tuesday after six people died in 24 hours.

The committee headed by His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidy also observed the lack of commitment by some people in following the preventive and precautionary measures resulted in high infections.
“The Supreme Committee calls upon everyone to comply with physical distancing guidelines, wearing face masks and continuously washing hands and urging all to feel personal and collective responsibility to protect themselves and the entire community against the pandemic,” the statement added.
